I decided I like photo challenges.
Mainly because they provide me with a theme, the motivation to search in my archives or to shoot something new, and loads of ideas looking at what other participants did.
Here my English is at fault. I looked everywhere to find out what it means, and generally the idea is clear to me. One little detail, though, I cannot figure out. If gaudy means simply loud and coloured and merry and “almost” excessive, but still within the boundaries of good taste, or if we are talking about plain garishness, definitely excessive and without an ounce of good taste.
But then again, since “good taste” is quite difficult to define, and is probably something at least partially subjective, who cares, really.
And this is my gaudy example. And from my travels, exactly eight years ago, when I was in Venice (the real thing) for Carnival.
This gives me the opportunity to wish you all a gaudy Carnival. With as much of good taste as you like.
