Well, of course there was no reason to have schools closed today (Mardi Gras, of all days, with parties programmed and all). The roads’ conditions are fine, it kept snowing a little till morning, therefore no ice around…
There would have been reasons to close them yesterday, or have them closed on Sunday evening so that people wouldn’t get out while the snowfall was at its peak.
Well, in a country where Mr Berlusconi is running for prime minister yet again, there must be something wrong in the water or in the air. Or on the air. So I’m not surprised to see common sense not being as common as I might desire.
What could I do, then? Well, I took my wife to work (remember? she left her car in the company car park, where it’s probably become a snow mound), with the children, then came home, sat down in my comfortable armchair and started working from here, while the children are playing in front of me with the most unlikely ensemble of toys I’ve ever seen.
And, of course, coffee. Which looks like this, and this is a dogma. Don’t get me wrong: is should also smell like this and taste like this. But of course you can’t appreciate that right now. So, if you want to pass by, there’s a cup always ready for a guest.
