There are several castles in the area where I live.
Yesterday it was Liberation Day (as in: the Allied forces and the Resistance getting rid of Italian fascism and German Nazi armies retreating, remember? the final act was on April 25th 1945, when Milan and Turin were liberated, and in a couple weeks everything was over everywhere), a national holiday, so we took advantage of the fine weather (today is cloudy again…) for a trip to one of said castles. Vigoleno, in the Piacenza hills.
The children enjoyed the magic place, although eventually they felt the amount of tourists and the lack of play areas.
And for the grown-ups, once we could trust not to fear the children would fall down the battlements, or try flying down the highest tower, or maybe end up playing hide-and-seek in the souvenir shop, we enjoyed some beauty and atmosphere.
So here’s just a couple pictures. Enjoy!
