There are in my city (well, the city where I was born and the closest one to where I live now) a number of monuments that suffered severe damages during WWII, especially because of what airplanes used to drop when flying over.
Only a small fragment of it made it through the war.
Citizens are happy that at least a part survived. The happiest, anyway, as it always happens, is the winged community. And mr Verdi, who seems to have a good time trying to catch bronze pigeons falling down.
