This view was taken inside St. John’s Basilica, Rome.
Literally, it would be St. John & John’s Basilica, as it is dedicated to both the Baptist and the Evangelist. Curiosity by curiosity, this is the mother church of all Roman Catholics in the world, since it is Rome’s Cathedral, that is the church where the seat of its bishop is, and that’s the Pope.
His seat is behind the altar, in the apse. And the altar is under that gothic style pointy something with a cage on top.
Those two guys inside the cage are St. Peter and St. Paul. They both have their own basilicas in Rome, the former the famous one in Vatican, the latter my favourite basilica just out of Rome’s walls. Apparently they don’t like them, as they appear as special guests here since long time. As it is, when it rains, they are doubly inside.
The church itself is beautiful. In this case, I simply like the light inside.
